Product Manufacturing Procedures

1) Mix Preparation

Mixes are painstakingly prepared to consistently achieve the same results.
All ingredients are carefully weighed on extremely accurate scales.  These ingredients are then blended in mixers that have been modified to produce homogeneous uniform mixes every time.
In addition, Starrex manufactures the vitrified bond used in all stones. This further insures product quality and consistency.

2) Pressing

Every mix is pressed on one of the five hydraulic processes.  Each press has been custom designed and built at Starrex to achieve the maximum in density control.  These presses have capacities from 50 to 500 tons.

3) Firing

The newly formed pieces are then fired in fiber lined and  programmable microprocessor controlled kilns.  All fifteen kilns were designed and built at Starrex to incorporate the latest in firing technology and reproducibility.

4) Finishing

Every stone is then finished to the customer's exact specifications. Starrex's stone finishing facility has a vertical spindle Blanchard grinder, five slicing machines and a radius machine.  All of these machines have been modified and are maintained to cut every stone with a high degree of accuracy.  This precision allows Starrex to obtain any tolerance needed.

5) Labeling

Before leaving Starrex's door, every piece is computer printed with the customer's specifications, the "Starrex" name and of course, made in the USA.
