The manufacturing of superfinishing stones is an exact science, 
not an art.

It is a matter of knowing the variables that affect the quality of the stone. The process is capital intensive, requiring machines and kilns the reproduce accurately every time. The technology, the equipment, and the personnel are here at Starrex. We make the highest quality superfinishing stones and compliment then with dependable service.

Starrex manufactures a wide range of vitrified bonded superfinishing hones and wheels. All of our products are made by cold pressing and sintering. It is a highly technical process that accurately controls the hardness (grade) and the structure (density) of the stone.
Starrex also controls the quality of the raw abrasive that goes into every stone. The abrasive is "FEPA" sized. This is the most precise sizing available. To further insure the quality, in-house testing is performed on all abrasive. The vitrified bond is produced at Starrex from tightly controlled materials and is tested before it is used in production.

Research and development are a way of life at Starrex. New methods, materials and equipment are constantly being tested to maintain our quality edge and production consistency. In addition, research is regularly conducted into new and innovative abrasives. A new vitrified bond for CBN has been developed, successfully tested and will soon be introduced into the market. Our new vitrified bonded sol gel hones and wheels have shown great promise in testing and initial production runs.
